The first Anglepoise was designed in 1932 by George Carwardine, a car engineer who specialised in suspension. He worked out that a set of springs could balance a lamp arm so that it stayed in whatever position you left it. The Type 75 Mini is a smaller version of Sir Kenneth Grange’s redesign of the lamp. Grange also designed the nose of the InterCity 125 and the Kenwood Chef. The springs sit on the outside of the arm, it moves with very little effort and holds its position, and the shade points the light at your desk rather than into your eyes. It’s sized for a smaller desk, and it comes in a wide range of colours.
On the face of it, Bento is a minimal looking storage box… but it’s much much more than that. Inspired by the Japanese lunchbox, Bento is an innovative way to keep your working space clutter free with sections inside to keep your bits neatly organised. The magic, however, lays (quite literally) on the lid. Open or closed, the top of Bento acts as a versatile stand for your laptops, tablets, notebooks and documents. Sure, some people might think it’s just a box, but use it properly and Bento is the perfect companion for your productivity.
Remembering what you’ve been working on and for how long is always a gruelling task, which is why there’s a ton of apps that help track your time. Few do it well, others only exist in pixels. That’s where ZEI comes in, making it easy to instantly switch between your time-tracked tasks with a physical 8-sided device that sits unobtrusively on your desk. Using the polygon shaped device is simple. Mark each side with your tasks using pen or stickers and whatever task is on top will be the task that it’s currently tracking. Connect it all up to their app (which works on macOS, Linux, Windows, iOS, and Android), flip it, sit back do work, and watch your time track itself.
